Michael Levy, a Jew, recently arrested again in connection with alleged offences in a loans-for-favours scandal, is Blair's chosen envoy to the Middle East. There have been many sweet words by Blair to achieve peace in the Middle East and to resolve the Palestinian issue, but no progress has been achieved by Blair. Is it a wise move in face of Arab persecution in the Middle East to have a Jew as an envoy. One might argue that having an Arab for the job might also pose a difficulty. What is the message that Blair really gives? Many if not most people would accept that the Arab/Israeli issue is at the centre of many of the worlds current problems (excluding Korea) and has led the world into 9/11, given status to Saddam Hussein, generated a need for an Arab resistance to western and particularly US hegemony in the region, and sustained an increasing hatred and fundamentalism.
