I'm beginning to doubt that my uncle is an atheist from some of the atheists answers from another question but he went to church as a Christmas present for his ex wife. Now an atheist who answered another question said that he doubts my uncle is an atheist because he will say to others May your God bless you & the other day he said maybe there is a higher power. So do you have any idea why he wouldn't come out & say he believes??

my bf noticed one day in the morning after laying around i feel alseep and he said that i was shaking violoently. he thought i was having a nightmare or something. he said he rubbed my back and held me and i seemed to calm down.Was I having a nightmare that i can't remember or is this something else. i was also told i sometimes snore too.

What if an atheist is a good person who helps humanity and tries to be better as a human being everyday But he does not follow the laws imposed by God such as the first commandment etc... Well the apartment that I live in has no carpet at all nether does my parents and I'm afraid of letting her practice siting up on the floor because its so hard. She can get on her hands and knees in her crib but she still cant crawl or sit up on her own is this ok? If not how can I help her along

I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I've seen a few postings where people ask how to start their dreads and people would reply by saying don't do it, its so ugly or they are so dirty. F.Y.I., it not that Dreadlocs are ugly and dirty, its the people who locked their hair and dont know how or dont want to take care of it. Even when it comes to Rastas, even though they dont go to the salon and tighten their dreads to make it look neat, its still not dirty because they too, wash their hair. Dreads for them is not for fashion, their hair is sacred and its a symbol and REAL rastas don't even show their dreads. Dreadlocs can be very sexy on a person when they know how to take care of it by washing and retwisting their roots or styling them. I personally feel that people with Caucasion like hair, shouldnt dread their hair because that is ugly, being that their hair is straight its rare to see someone with that texture hair with neat, tight locs...Look at these Dreadlocs:

Some say it should be illegal to burn the American flag, because that amounts to a desecration. That is according to many Republican politicians. By that same logic, shouldn't the possession of a confederate flag be outlawed, since that ALSO amounts a desecration of the American flag? Our union is threatened by the burning of the American flag much as it is by the flying of the flag of our previous civil enemy. Isn't that hypocritical of proponents of a ban on American flag burning?
Flying a confederate flag is not the same as flying the State flag of Louisiana, for example. That's because the confederate flag was supposed to apply to all of the states, not just the south. Plus, the Southern states now fly the American flag, "old glory".Flying the confederate flag is also not the same as flying a foreign flag, or the foreign flag of an enemy we fought in a war. That is because Americans were fighting other Americans. It is therefore an internal civil matter.

It is not any sort of grief that put me in this position. In short, I'm terribly bored. The only unbearable feature of life is how uneventful and unstimulating it is. I have enough to satisfy my physical needs, have an adequate intellect and probably have somewhat of a "good life" ahead.

But worldly gain-wealth, power, recognition, friends-dont add up to an appealing picture. I cannot force myself to care about these rediculous things when I am simply a self-aware macromolecule on a ball of encrusted magma sailing through an infinitessimally small unit of space and time. Space and time indeed may only compose one of many extradimensional branes in this seemingly incomprehensible multiverse.

I don't believe in an afterlife, so suicide would be cancelling this existance that has yet to prove its worth to me. It seems that all individual endeavour is ultimately a waste of time and will not matter when put in perspective. I've had enough. Is there really a reason to continue existing?
