There was a t.v. commerical aired in the U.S. sometime during the late 80's to early 90's (probably more the 90's, I can't remember). I use to laugh hysterically at it and I think it actually became part of pop culture at the time. It was a commercial about medical-alert jewelry (necklace) for older people/people who live alone/people with health problems. In the commercial would be an older person on the floor and they would say "Help! I've fallen and I can't get up". (I don't think that intrinically is funny, but the phrase became a hysterical line to use often, whether ethically right or not). Any ideas about where this commercial was from? Company? Anybody know if it still airs? Is it on YouTube?

A doctor of psychology was doing his normal rounds when he entered a patient's room. He found Patient 1 sitting on the floor, pretending to saw a piece of wood in half.
Patient 2 was hanging from the ceiling, by his feet.
The doctor asked Patient 1 what he was doing. The patient replied,
"Can't you see I'm sawing this piece of wood in half?" The doctor inquired of Patient 1 what Patient 2 was doing. Patient 1 replied, "Oh. He's my friend, but he's a little crazy. He thinks he's a lightbulb." The doctor looks up and notices Patient 2's face is going all red. The doctor asks Patient 1, "If he's your friend, you should get him down from there before he hurts himself." Patient 1 replies, "What? And work in the dark?"

It has come to my notice that in societies that in encourage arranged marriages, there exists a large number of marital relations between the same two (or a small group of) families which is not strictly inbreeding, but rather a very milder form.

Could this explain the increased occurrences of genetic disorders (e.g. diabetes) in such societies?
