UC Merced is new and in the middle of nowhere -- so it will be the easiest to get into.

Merced, Riverside, and Santa Cruz. The last two have been on this list for 25 years, unfortunately.
Riverside is a good school, so is Santa Cruz, Merced is too soon to tell.
It's sad, though, and more than a little ironic: Conservative professors at UCSC spearheaded a successful move to eliminate pass/no credit grading there. They thought it would increase selectivity.
Didn't work. It just ruined a great program, and only gave the school the wierdest, hardest grading system of all-- as well as maintaining all the extra academic requirements that were in place because of the no-grades curriculum.
Between 1966 and about 1979, Santa Cruz was by far the most difficult UC to get into, far more difficult than Berkeley, no comparison. There's a lesson there.

Last year (not sure if it's like it this year), as long as you met the minimum requirements, Merced automatically accepted you. If not that, then my best guess would be Riverside.
