Cancer is one of those things that is so individual. Genetics, age, health and gender all play a part.
You didn't mention the type of bone cancer, and that, in part, determines how aggressive it is, and how it is treated. Also the stage is important. Stage 1 has better outcomes than Stage 2, etc.
We have grids that we use to determine morbidity rates (likelihood of dying) for different types of cancer. The best thing to do is talk to your doctor about your particular type of cancer, and ask to know as much as possible. For more information on cancer, you can visit the American Cancer Association, CDC, or other websites. Also, CAP (the college of american pathologists) has detailed information on their site.
What I can tell you is that your best chance of living is to have the surgery, and any radiation or chemotherapy they offer. You may or may not have it come back, but you will live longer than if you don't. If you don't get the surgery, you increase your chances of it spreading to other parts of your body and that is always fatal.
Just so you know, Pathologists are the doctors that diagnose the cancer from the biopsies or surgical specimens. I'm a Cytotechnologist. Cytotechs work with Pathologists and we specialize in identifying and understanding cancer in cells. You can request to talk to the Pathologist that looked at your biopsy and ask to know more about it.
Good luck and stay positive! It's the one thing we know increases your chance of survival!!

Your specialist can give you a better answer based on your specific circumstances.
The trouble with cancer is that it is made up of a lot of cells. When they do the surgery, the surgeon will cut out everything he can see, plus a bit more for good luck. But it is just possible that one or two rogue cells might already have escaped and wandered off into another part of your body -and there's no way to know if they have, or where they've gone. Then the rogue cells can make a new cancer somewhere else. That's why chemotherapy or other treatments are often recommended, to mop up anything that might have got away.
However, the earlier they catch the cancer, the less likely it is that anything will have escaped, so the odds are with you. Good luck!

If there are no more cancerous cells, you should be well. However, do you know for sure? You should take preventative measures. For additional reading on cancer, refer to this useful resource http://www.healthandwellnesscentral.com/Category/Cancer/50
