I asked a question awhile ago about why America is obsessed with Heroism.
A lot of you said it wasn't JUST America, and I agree.
I need to know what you think of NON American Heroism.
Heroism in today's popular culture in places other than America. Some people considered leaders in places like Europe, Italy, Russia, Germany, anywhere. Why are they leaders, what makes them that? What do you define as a Hero? Which qualifications do they possess? Are they ALL flawed?
I know one person considered a "hero" in Germany was Hitler in his time. Does anyone know where I can find info on that?
Anyother heroes in other countries?
What's everyone's opinions?
I'm writing a paper about it, any links or ideas would be appreciated!

I mean its not like I got to choose her for my mother..and believe me if only I had a choice! She acts as though every time I have a thought or feeling that differs from her own that I am doing her a great injustice and being ungrateful for the privilege of being her daughter. I have never been made to feel that I am allowed to have an opinion that differs from hers..and I am only just coming to grips with how that has screwed me up. We had a huge fight yesterday and I said that I thought we should stay away from each other for a while cause I was tired of upsetting her all the time. She said that was fine by her and that I could contact her "when you feel like talking to your mother"..like I'm the cause of our problems! I cant see a time when I ever will *want* to talk to her again. The only thing that will cause me to talk to her again is the feeling that I am duty bound to do so. But to do so is to disrespect my feelings and to make her appear like she is in the right. What to do?

Every friendship + reationaship i have ended up being manipulaqted by men either physically or emotionally. Even friendships have been messed up by sex. I've always felt like I couldn't get close to people (like my friends) and I tend to keep much to myself because I don't really trust anyone. Lois Lowry is a great author. I loved her books such as the Giver and Number the Stars. I need a book that is really good. it doesn
t have to be by Lois Lowry though. If you are afraid that some book that you want to recommend is too complicated for me I can manage. I like books such as Life of Pi, The Giver, and the Harry Potter books. Some types of books that I like are mystery,books involving the troubles in Germany, adventure, and lots of interesting things.
