we popularly say that current flows from pos to neg.
in reality it goes the other way.
when current flows from a battery it is the result of a chemical reaction. all chemical reactions have an electrical component. when we measure this we call it e zero value. for the popular batteries we use the e zero value of each cell is 1.5 volts.
so
for most batteries discharge neg to pos at a value of 1.5 v. when the chemical reaction has no more reactivity we say the battery is dead.
