My grandmother who is Jamaican used to say, "Some things are best left forgotten." This is my view, and a view shared by many Jamaicans regarding the horrors of slavery. While I respect and understand the African American view that 'to remember the past is to not repeat it' this is not a view that I share. So, if I were a parent, I would not want my child presented images of fear and hate from this very sad period in America's past. And while, I don't agree that bus loads of elementary school children are taken on tours to see it, this is an individual parent's decision. While I respect why the African American people want this exhibt included, in my oppinion, even some adults might be traumatized in viewing it moreover a young and fragile child.

Two young guys were picked up by the cops for smoking dope and appeared in court on Friday before the judge.



The judge said, "You seem like nice young men, and I'd like to give you a second chance rather than jail time.

I want you to go out his weekend and try to show others the evils of drug use and get them to give up drugs forever. I'll see you back in court Monday. "



Monday , the two guys were in court; and the judge said to the first one,

"How did you do over the weekend?"



"Well, Your Honour, I persuaded 17 people to give up drugs forever." "17 people? That's wonderful. What did you tell them?"





"I used a diagram, Your Honour. I drew two circles like this..... O o .. and told them this (the big circle) is your brain before drugs and this (small circle) is your brain after drugs."





"That's admirable," said the judge. " And you , how did you do ? " the judge asked the second guy.





" Well, Your Honour, I persuaded 156 people to give up drugs forever." "156 people! That's amazing! How did you manage to do that ?"



" Well, I used a similar approach (he draws two circles)....

o O "I said (pointing to the small circle) "this is you’re a*shole before prison ...."

It is known, for a fact, that the apocrypha in the bible was "selected" by humans to show certain things...

so how can you be certain, that the bible is the message of God untampered, when it has been tampered by humans and reprocessed?

This is seperate from faith, mind you, ---faith in God is fine, but here, to claim absolute certainty is claiming absolute faith in HUMANS who handled the message of God through 2 millenia...

How can you have "faith" in humans? sometimes corrupt officials in the roman empire? who are no delivering the message to you?

You don't have faith when a guy tells you he will take care of your purse? or your car? right, or a bank---or advertisement...your naturally doubting---

so it makes sense, that doubting of the handling of the MOST sacred message in history by men.

It was handled by men and most probably re-interpreted and I cannot trust man, who is inherently sinful, in delivering to me the most sacred message of all time.

I study English Language at 6th form and for my first piece of coursework I need to write the opening chapter to a story. I'm thinking along the lines of horror. But I need some style models (authors and books of which I'll need to base my style of writing on). Does anyone have any ideas of stories which are good at gripping the reader right from the very first chapter? I'm thinking along the lines of Steven King or similar authors. For the past three months i have been paying BR tax code. After numerous phone calls to the tax office and my payroll they have finally issued me with 503L, then i was told that next pay will be on a month one basis (which i assume will show as 503L M1?). And apparently i will not be getting my rebate. What does this mean? Will i have to pay excess tax again? Or less? And what about after that?

I do have another part-time job. The revenue had actually sent me notification that my fulltime job will be on 503L so i rang payroll to make sure they have recieved it too... they hadnt... so i had to call the revenue to fax it over ... twice. The last time i called my employers payroll they said the months will be on a month one basis. I still dont understand the cumultative/non cumulative process. Its all too confusing!

I am having a problem with my next door neighbour ( he keep`s reporting us to the council for thing`s we are not doing ) The council know he is making thing`s up because he was reporting thing`s to them whilst we were on holiday ( this is how the council sussed him out )
Now he has bought 4 pig`s and built their pen right up against our fencing and the smell is unbearable now ( it will be worse when the summer comes )
My husband wants to get rid of them , what is the best way ? any idea`s ............ We live in the northeast uk !

well..i am in love with this guy but I am far more intelligent than him...i am like..best girl in class (academically) i look better than average and only 1 and a half inch shorter than him..still..he or better to say noone has asked me out. I am slim too but not very sporty..usually i am given "leadership tasks"..so is my being "better" the reason of him not liking me?
