Now he has bought 4 pig`s and built their pen right up against our fencing and the smell is unbearable now ( it will be worse when the summer comes )

The problems have started since we had a dead tree cut down on our property ( this was all done through offical channels ) and we did ask him first if he had any objections to this .

Easy, contact DEFRA and report him as keeping a pig wothout a licence. Contact the environmental health dept of the council and tell them the same. You are not allowed to keep cloven hoofed animals without a herd number and holding number and I bet he hasn't got either.
The env' health will deal with it on smell grounds especially if any effluent leaks onto your property.

Check the laws in your area....I know here in the USA certain farm animals are not allowed in city limits. It may be illegal for him to even have the pigs there. You can also try getting a petition started around the neighborhood to have the pigs removed.

However DO NOT poison the pigs! The person who suggested that should be assamed for saying such things. The pigs did nothing wrong. It's not their fault that they are there. Killing innocent animals is not the appropriate way to go. PLUS if his pigs just died one day he could have a necropsy done and they'd find the posion and from the sounds of it he'd point the finger at you. You'd be under investigation for animal cruelty.

Know a butcher?ham, bacon, pork sausages, loin chops, roast leg of pork with apple sauce, now you've made me hungry.
just ignore him dont retaliate, dont be so feeble minded and play his tit for tat game.you will only end up looking worse than him.he'll come unstuck sooner or later.the council blokes ar'nt stupid they'll work it out.let him keep calling the council the more times they come to your place the better they'll cotton on to the neighbour without you having to say anything after all if the smell is that bad dont you think they'll smell it?just grin and bear it in the meantime.someone has to be an adult.check council bylaws re:distance from fence to enclosure it'll come under building.

Surely they can't legally keep pigs in an urban area? Check with Animal Control or the RSPCA, they may be in violation of health and safety regs by keeping them so near other people's homes, water supply etc.
You might want to visit the piggies with a phone camera and take pics of how they live...he probably doesn't keep them in proper conditions. And I don't think you're allowed to keep animals for slaughter so close to other houses...there are tight regs on how "pet" pigs are kept.
Edit: Note to lazlous..."rogue," not rouge. Rouge is blusher you put on your face. Learn to spell before you criticise someone else's punctuation.

First of all - death to the rouge apostrophe!

Secondly, if the council are aware that he is reporting you for things you have not done, then they should be willing to come out and investigate the situation if you make a complaint against them. Get some photographic/video evidence and lodge a complaint!

I think the legal term is 'causing a nuisance'.
It doesn't take much imagination for any law officer to realise that the smell is a nuisance.

But can't you talk to the neighbour. How long does he plan on keeping the pigs? What is his reason for having them?
If you get really peed off, just get half a dozen cows.

It appears to me that you neighbour is trying to antagonise you by bringing the pigs in so that you retaliate with doing something equally as bad. Dont fall for it. I assume you are in the UK in which case I am sure are laws in country which govern keeping of ,livestock in a garden. A farm animals belongs in er.... farm, so report him/her to the RSPCA I am sure they will be interested in the animals welfare. Just tell the RSPCA that you saw them kicking the animals/beating them with a stick and holding them from their tails and swinging them or something similar . The council is already kind of on your side anyway so they will believe you. If you have a baby or young kids then I am sure they are being affected too....

The last resort is to take the idiots to court.. I'll find out my brother is a lawyer

Contact ITV for the next series of "Neighbours from Hell".
And don't take it out on the pigs. They are the innocent victims in this....situation.
