A friend and I are doing research on the WWII military history of Formosa, which is today called Taiwan. As we know, Taiwan had been ceded to Japan in 1895, and so in the 1940's it was part of the Japanese Empire.
The US Congress issued a Declaration of War against Japan on Dec. 8, 1941. According to what an associate of ours read in a Japanese book, US bombing raids against targets in Formosa began on Oct. 12, 1944. However we don't have any independent verification of that date.
As to when US aerial/naval attacks against Formosa ended, of course everything was over by early Aug. 1945, but we don't have the exact date when the last attack on Formosa was carried out.
Does anyone know where we can get online access to full records of the US military activity against Formosa and the Pescadores during this WWII period? This is needed in conjunction to a research report we are writing.
