That's not even a fever for a newborn.
The doctor has to calculate the dose for tylenol at that age based on their weight, so if you really feel the need to give it, check with the doctor first.

99.3 is boarder line fever for an infant. Call your peds doctor and find out if there is a safe dosage of your babies weight and age. I do not believe there is, I know there wasn't 8 years ago. Try cool wash clothes and keeping the baby swaddled. If the fever goes up any, don't hesitate to take him/her to the ER. I would check it every half hour till it goes up or down. Don't think you are being over paranoid!! It could be nothing serious, but with infants you don't want to just assume and take that chance.
When my daughter was 6 weeks old, she started out with a fever of 99.8, at first reading. After two hours it was up to 102.7. I called her pediatrician, and was told to take her to the ER right away. My daughter was born premature, so it was a bit more of an urgency, by the time we got the ER it was 103.4. They couldn't find anything specifically wrong, she had to go through all types of testing, including a spinal tap. We all stayed the night at the hospital, and the next day, she was fine, as though nothing ever happened. The doctors were never able to give me a true reason as to why it all happened, but they all said that it was the best thing to bring her in. 8 years later she is fine.

That's not a low grade fever. A low grade fever is considered anything BELOW the patients normal body temprature, it can happen when a child gets bronchitis. As for giving your child tylenol at 3 weeks...consult your physician.

thats really not a fever. 98.6 is an average normal temp anyway and most of us very a little bit. You do need to keep a watch on it to see if it goes up and if so infants tylenol drops are wonderful. But usually you don't medicate until higher. Infants tend to run really high fevers when they are sick. Also, fever is the bodys way of fighting off whatever is trying to make it sick so it is good to not medicate low fevers so your body can fight.
Good luck

It is best not to medicate babies, this young, if you don't have to. T-99.3, is not anything to worry about. If, it gets higher than 100.4, then I would, after you have tried to lower it, and these other measures have not worked; you can take most of the clothes off, just leave with a t-shirt, & light blanket, also apply cold compresses to body, or give a slightly warm, bath, turn on a fan. Try to figure out, what the cause of the temp, then make sure you take the baby to their regular check-ups, & call the doctor's office.

I am assuming you took your baby's temperature rectally as that is the recommended most reliable way. Normal rectal temp is 99.6, so your baby does not have a low-grade fever. Do not give your baby any kind of medication without an OK from your pediatrician.

I asked my doctor the same thing. She said in a baby that small it is not considered a fever unless it is 100.3 or more. Of course, all doctors may tell you something completely different. Try giving the baby a sponge bath if you think her temperature is high.

DO NOT GIVE YOUR BABY ANY MEDS FOR FEVER BECAUSE THAT IS A NORMAL TEMP FOR A 3 MONTH OLD. IF YOU GIVE THE BABY TYLENOL IT WILL MAKE HIS BODY TEMPERATURE TO LOW AND YOU DO NOT WANT TO DO THAT.

Consult with a doctor and call the after hour line so the oncall doctor can call you back and you can tell them what you need to do. It shouldn't be a problem, but it will be a low dose, like maybe under .6 ml.... but ask ask ask first.
