Introduced into Congress by Thaddeus Stevens this portion of the Freedmen's Bureau Act was defeated by Congress on February 5, 1866 "by a vote of 126 to 36." Lands which had been distributed to freedmen were reclaimed and returned to the previous owners.

Slaves was not free, they were still slaves I mean 100 years latter hey couldn't vote. If the country hated them enough for them not to vote why give them anything?

Anytime pass 1970 the laws for blacks were never used. Anytime blacks tried to take advantage of their so-called freedom Police man and their dogs would come. They would be sent to jail on the slight thing. If a white man hits a black man then the black man hits help back it was either death or jail even if the black guy was justified.

I don't know, but I'd like to ask why the Native Americans were stuck into reservations and then they have to have "papers" to prove they are Native American. At least you don't have to have a "pedigree." BTW, look who's faces are on Mt. Rushmore, that used to be sacred land. Sad all the way around.

Probably because the government chose not to. It would not solve anything if the government from today made up for all up the mistakes it has made in the past.
