I'm working on the rationale of a thesis and need some support material to enlarge its scope, from which objectives including: differentiation of alternative from folk songs, examples of each material, methodology, survey questionnaires, expected outcomes need to be evolved.
In the Philippines, folk music reveals the culture of indigenous artists, mostly common people, who have brought oral tradition, song, and dance into interplay to create easily remembered, fast and danceable tunes which can be transmitted orally through music.
An untrained voice can sing Philippine folk songs, which usually employ the diatonic scale rather than the more famous pentatonic scale. Corridos, lullabies, work songs, and Christmas carols are the more famous among these traditional songs.
Folk songs regale the pulchritude and grace of women, the gaiety and nonchalance of workers, and the candor and wit of its composers, as "Bahay Kubo" and "Anak".
