I am 44 years old-need to get a life-dint want to spend x plus years in college-any ideas for a career?

Lost some files. Tried overwriting XP to restore. Sticks at registering. Computer won't do anything! Help!

I lost some files because of a Virus. I decided to try to recover them by overwriting my XP Pro. I can't get it to overwrite. The installation hangs up at " registering devices". It will not allow me to escape the overwrite. It hangs up everytime at "registering devices". When I try to restart it goes right back into trying to overwrite but can't. I cannot undo the partial overwrite to use my computer at all. Can anyone help? Please explain in very elementary terms as I am close to computer illiterate and completely lost !

I had the biggest crush on him the whole year because we have SO much in common!
