What was the best game for the original Playstation?

I think the best RPG game is Harvest Moon : Back To Nature. I still love that game, even though I've sold my Playstation. But FF7 is also more than worth playing. It's in the top chart of any PS review forums.

For the best action game, I choose Metal Gear Solid. The graphic is excellent for a Playstation game. The gameplay? Nobody should doubt about it. Just take a look at it's sequels. Konami made a big hit with MGS series!

Horror game? Resident Evil speaks. The series of this game have been the legend of any horror games. The horror it gives, the action it offers, every aspect of this game makes it the best horror game ever in PS.

Racing? Everybody knows that Gran Turismo 2 is the best racing game in PS! GT2 was as great a leap over the original Gran Turismo as Gran Turismo was over every other racing game made.

All these games that I think the best are in my opinion. It's up to you whether you agree with me or not.

Final Fantasy VII had great... well everything. MGS as well as a few select others were a little bit different, but didn't, in my view, recreate the stellar atmosphere FFVII had, with it's stunning (then) graphics, excellent musical score, absolutely massive lifespan and a huge World to go with it. the music was varied yet remained fresh to the environment you were in. If it needed to create a murky, bitter atmosphere, it did it well, thanks to the composers.

Also the battle scenes were full of action and varying attacks and enemies, as well as the determination to get to better levels to enhance magic spells multiple times and enhance physical attacks, too. The combat system remained big enough to be enjoyed yet kept simplified and easy to learn how to use. It was truly a classic and the best game ever, in my opinion. Excellent gaming and a gaming environment longed to be created. No other game has ever quite managed to recreate the formula FFVII did to ensure a lengthy, but nevertheless constantly enjoyable game with endless plots and twists that kept you fully interested in the game.

FFChronicles:Chrono Trigger and FFIV both would be on this list (since i listed a port already)

i don't think there were any other games worth playing on psx, but i might update my list in a little bit

there is a reason i didn't put final fantasy seven on my list. any game that i can fall asleep at the beginning of disc three, and wake up to find myself in a fight with sephiroth, almost dying and then suddenly getting a limit break, waiting eight minutes and not being attacked by sephiroth at all, to find that it is impossible to lose that fight, having no clue how i even GOT that far, in my book, that makes this game not even worthy of being CALLED a final fantasy. i'm also going to leave a link to a question where i listed the reasons FFVII was over-rated

Final Fantasy VII without a doubt and still is the best selling game for the PS1, still selling like hot cakes in some areas of the UK.
