Because no one seems to! Everyone always addresses non-believers (or not strong believers) as atheists. There IS a difference. And just so you know it:
An atheist is someone that denies that there is a God and believes solely in the evolution theory. They're not bad people, they just lost their faith along the way and no amount of insult is going to change their mind, it's just going to piss them off.
An agnostic is someone that doesn't really know what to believe. It's not that they don't think God exists or that God did anything, they just don't know. They believe that there COULD be some kind of higher power, but they don't contribute it to EVERYTHING. (i.e.: God created the world but didn't create Adam and Eve, didn't make the solar system the way it is, and didn't "teach" the moon or the tides anything. All that stuff just HAPPENED).
There. Now you know. So please try to respect others' beliefs. If you want them to respect yours, don't insult theirs.
