Does anyone here speak in tounges?

If so how do you feel that you received that gift from God. I have been seeking baptism in the Holy Spirit for quite some time now but haven't received it. What are better ways to seek it. Serious answers only please....

I have been trying also. Some people after being born again, then have hands laid on them to receive.

I have been told to just ask for it and believe.

All believers of Jesus Christ should speak in tongues according to the bible. Satan tried to scare people away from it and maybe think it is weird or something. It gives Christian more power and the ability to pray to God directly (a hotline to God) without the devil getting in the way.

Yes, I do silently. I got it when I was prayed over by a Canadian evangelist named Gordon Williams. You have to be chosen by the Holy Spirit to receive it and then you have to not be alarmed by what you see all around you, when there is a mass baptism in the Holy Spirit. You have to be prayed over to get that gift. I have the email address of a pastor who gave me that baptism in the Holy Sprit that you are talking about. He's an every other year (about) guest pastor at the church that I go to. Some religions feel that God personally hands out special gifts to special people. I am baptist. I was raised in the baptist church. I have attended a pentecostal church as a teenager, as well as catholic services, jewish services, southern baptist services. I was married in a presbyterian church and 2 out of 4 my children where baptised in the same church. I believe that God knows your convictions that are in your heart. And if you are true to yourself and true to heart, and true to God, You will always be okay. Trust in yourself and trust in God. You do not need to sit and wait for "Gifts" to be passed out, when you already posses the best gift of all--Jesus is in your heart and in your life. Accepting Jesus Christ as your personal savior is being baptised in the Holy Spirit! Keep smiling and live your life to the fullest the way that Jesus wants you too, other wise life will pass you by as wait for something you already have. As for speaking in "Tongues" to each his own. There are parts of the bible where is said that someone spoke in "tongues", no one knows if that meant a biblical language that only God could hear and translate thru the host of a human, or a different language or dialec. The Bible was written for us all to translate into different meanings, everyone reads the same words but aborsbs it differently. Keep the Lord in your heart, and live the life he has given to you, and smile.

This is just my opinion, but I don't think you need to worry about speaking in tongues as long as you have asked Jesus into your heart. In the Bible, when it happened, it was to help people in a crowd each hear a message in their own language. The way it is done in charismatic churches today, it is an untelligible language and sometimes no one can understand it. Try not to worry about it - God loves you just as you are.

It isn't pretend. Its in the bible. We are able to receive all the promises of the bible. You will receive the gift. It's not meant to be easy. Keep seeking God.

I do. I was prayed for to receive it. Then a very wise pastor told me, that I had to act like I had it. It is hard for us humans to accept that we are not in control of our words. Tongues come as the spirit utters. Trust after the prayer and it will come. Maybe not immediately, but it will come.

The gift of speaking in tongues is something that is EXTREMELY misunderstood and misinterpreted. All gifts from God have a purpose. He is a God of order, purpose and reason. God does not do things for one's own gradification, and that seems to be the purpose of alot of people and their supposed use of the "gift of tongues". The gift of tongues is a spiritual gift from God that can be used as a tool by God through his disciples to communicate with others with whom they would not normally be able to communicate with. For example, missionaries being able to speak with others in a language not normally their own. I would encourage you to pray yourself earnestly to God to understand this principle. Alot of churches, preachers and people twist the scriptures and interpret them themselves. I have heard many instances where preachers told individuals who were getting ready to be baptized to "just start speaking jibberish as soon as you are baptized". ANY organization that encourages misinterpretation, or display or use of spiritual gifts that aren't given by God for His use, is not an organization of God. I grew up in a Pentecostal church. I have never been baptized in the holy spirit but I have been around it my whole life. From what I understand is it is just a feeling that takes over your whole being. I hope that you have succeed in your life for Christ.

REPENT, BE BAPTIZED EVERYONE OF YOU IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS THEN YE SHALL RECEIVE THE GIFT OF THE HOLY GHOST. YOU NEED TO PRAISE HIM, THAT'S THE ONLY WAY THROUGH WORSHIP AND PRAISE. IVE HAD THE HOLY GHOST WITH THE EVIDENCE OF TONGUES FOR 29 YEARS.
