The idea of the Aether was first defined by democretus where he identified a substance in Universe(space) that is inddivisible by natural means.

Note MME experiment was inconclusive because they did not understand what they were really testing.
It now has been shown That MME did not test the Aether it only tested a a dispersion effect of light.which has nothing to do with Democretus 's Aether.
Scientifically the aether can be easily tested.
Some old test was the casmir plates test.
There are even simpler tests. I no understand those pseudoscientists presently have in mind about the aether. Einstein believed there is an aether how else can there be a compression of space?

They are not pseudo scientists. It was the Michelson/Morley experiment's result.
Since Ether theory was scientifically accepted at the time, The object of the experiment was to measure the speed of light with the assumption that light travels through a medium called ether.
When the experiment failed, Michelson and Morley thought that the equipment they built was not sensitive enough to see the phase change of the reflected light that can be used to calculate the speed.
They were not aware that their experiment was a big discovery in science that disprove the presence of ether in space.

They're not -- no real scientist backs the "aether" as real.
Don't know where you're getting your information from, but it's incorrect.
