I am from Texas and I was just wondering what people think of Texans, and Texas in general. It can be positive or negative just as long as its your honest opinion.

while there is clearly nothing free here... only Americans that never been outside of US can say that, because other countries are so much more free than America! Come on, people, you can't even drink on the streets or say your opinion without worring that someone will sue you for that.

I'm looking to go to the states and work for a little while but i'm not sure how to go about getting a visa or even how long it will last for. I just put in my application for a passport and i will have it in 2 weeks. I am living in Winnipeg, MB Canada if that helps at all. Any help is appreciated.

Barring Texas, I don't think the South has the type of environment I'm looking for. So with that said, where can I find people that say hi, strike a conversation in the check out line, pretend to care about perfect strangers etc.

My husband and I live in Cali but we don't want tor retire here. We'd like some small rural town with population under 20000. A laid back setting, a bit country you might say. We would prefer Oregon or Washington. A place where our grandkids can come and escape the city and get back to simpler times for a while when they visit. A little small town life type place. A Main Street and and court house, a market and some other things but not too much. Grassy fields, places for a bit of nature and the peace to enjoy it. We're not familiar with all the smaller areas in these states and would appreciate input from people who are. What cities are small, rural, laid back and relaxed. For those of us who are trying to escape the rat race. Any serious suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Help us find our Mayberry so we can go settle down.

The new procedure of throwing tourists in jail if they get a minor speeding ticket and left there until they have checked if your valid passport is really valid, sounds way over the top. Or is this the new normal, probably copied from one of the countries they invaded
