About 30 hours from Springfield to SanFrancisco.... really depends on where you are going on California.
It takes much less time to fly... and also with gas as it is, would probably cost less money too.

If flying-however long it takes you to get to either the St Louis or KC airport. The flight to most Calif airports is about 5 hours. There is generally a layover in either Denver or Phoenix. I personally prefer Phoenix. For me to get to Sacramento from St Louis it is a total of 13 hours-driving to airport, waiting for flight, layover, and drivetime from airport in Sac.to daughters home.
If driving-depends on the number of drivers and if you stop for the night. If driving straight through with 2 or more drivers it will take approximately 3 days depending on where in Calif you are going and if you take the southern route or northern route.

It is about 1598 miles to Los Angeles. At 60 mph it would be a little over 24 hours of driving.

if you drive as long and far as you can each day, you could make it in 2 days from san francisco. My brother used to drive from SF to West Lafayette, Indiana and it took 2 1/2 days driving from like 6am to 10pm with stops only for food and bathroom.
