We've never been to either. We could drive to Savannah GA (about 6 hours +/-) or fly to St. Augustine (another question within this question: is it closer to St. Augustine from Jacksonville FL airport or from Orlando FL?) In order for anyone to offer their best advice, here's what we like to do on vacation:
1) Relax by the pool with a good book in one hand and a drink in the other.

2) Stroll through the local town/city/village and window-shop at all the little boutiques.

3) Take horse-drawn carriage rides, as well as look at historical attractions nearby.

4) Eat long and leisurely at fine restaurants while rehashing our fun day together.

5) Stay up 'til the "wee" hours with romance abounding.

6) Sleep later than we normally do "in the real world!"

So that's what we're looking for ... oh, and I almost forgot: We prefer an area where we can reach most places (shops, attractions, restaurants, etc.) by walking and just leave our car at the hotel most of the time.

What is easyest way to get up there? By boat or the road? We are thinking about the road. My sister lives up there, in Homer. We want to move up there and out of Spokane Washington. We have lived here all of our lives. Please help us. Which way is better?

I was just wondering if all the things you hear about the midwest are true or not, such as it's not over crowded, the people are alot more friendly and down too earth, everyone drives fords and chevys, little stuff like that- Is it THAT much of a change from the east coast (where I live)?

So I'm looking for a small-middle size city maybe like 50-70 thousand people that is really close to the beach but also has mountains for skiing or hiking. It would be cool if it was like an hour or two away from a large city so I could get that experience too. Is there anywhere In California that sounds somewhat like that? Thanks so much!

I live here in America and I would like to go to the UK in June. I have never been anywhere outside the US so I do not have a passport. I know I have to get that first. Since the UK does not require a Visa, do I still have to have a visa to re-enter the US? What else do I need to do to go about this?
