My recommendation would depend on what time of the year, what you like to do, and how much you want to spend?
If you are looking to go in warm weather and want a romantic weekend then I would suggest Cape May, NJ.You will be hard pressed to find a more charming, romantic place in New Jersey than Cape May. Couples looking for a romantic weekend getaway find the Victorian bed and breakfasts, its beautiful powdery sand beach, and excellent selection of fine dining restaurants to be the ideal framework for that special experience.
Or if your looking for more excitement and willing to spend more money, than I would suggest New York City.
Or if you are looking for a place with a nice downtown area on the waterfront with restaurants, bars, and some history, then I would suggest Boston.
Good Luck
