34 states have a Springfield. The wikipedia article on Springfield, USA, gives some good points as to what state the Springfield in the Simpson’s may be based on. But many times in the show, there are little hints as to where they live, like Homers social security number (the first 3 numbers, are the same as California’s), and in another episode Homer crosses out all the states he is banned from, all are crossed out but Arizona and North Dakota but Homer crosses out Arizona because it smells funny there. They've drove just a short distance to Canada (everyone in Springfield knows O Canada), but they have also drove a short distance to Mexico, and they live near the ocean, but east coast or west coast? There are so many more hints as to what state they may live in.

What real life Springfield and in what state, do you think the town in the show is based on and do you think we will ever find out?

Have to plan trip around 6 & 8 yr olds' spring break. Looking out west. Good place for kids that will still have plenty of good skiing.

My husband and I are currently considering a possibley relocation to the Providence, Rhode Island area. Anyone, who can shed some light on the following would be greatly appreciated: What areas around Providence would afford

1.) The quintisential New England village environment.

2.) Close to some good dining

3.) Close to the water.

4) Close to Providence - we are considering the Barrington area but looks pretty pricey.

Also, can someone please confirm or dispell what we are being told about winters in Providence. That being "snowfall is not as bad as being inland, Two to three inches at time. Doesn't stay on the ground that long because of the close proximity to the ocean. Snowfall doesn't really get bad until the end of December. Janary and February are the worst." All of this with the caveat of "You can occaisionally get slammed with a horrible Noreastern from time to tome." We are trying to get an honest answer to these questions.

Many Thanks, Deborah

We will be starting to travel by motor home soon and are interested in starting to line up an itinerary. We are looking at the entire country, just no theme parks, we got over that when our children grew up.

Thank you in advance for your responses.

I'm 16, and I've been to the USA lot's of time on vacation with my family and to visit our relatives who live in North Carolina and Connecticut, and I love it there!

But my friends keep telling me that Americans don't like Canadians. And when I tell them I want to live there they go "Why would you want to live there, USA sucks". I don't care that they say that though, because I've been to the USA and I think it's great and most people are friendly there.

I've seen on the news about that immigration thing in the USA with Mexico, and I guess some Americans don't like immigrants. But I reallly want to live there because I just think it's a great county, and I would become an American citizen if I had the chance and I wouldn't illegally immigrate, I would do it legally and pay all my taxes!!!

I drove up to Washington DC last week from Raleigh, and I had my mapquest route with me just in case, but I didn't need it and I just followed the Interstate signs all the way, and it got me there.

Has that ever worked for you?

Do they like us or not like us? I feel sorry for Alaska and Hawaii, it must be sad for Alaska and Hawaii since they are loners from our country.

Hawaii could be blown to tiny little piece one day, by a volcanoes, and a tsunami could make Hawaii an underwater paradise.

Oh those poor lil Hawaii and Alaska people. It must be sad being loner states. It's like in school, the big popular group of friends all hang out together, but there is always 2 friends in that group that the popular group considers there friends, but the kids in the big group just sort of ignore the other 2 and only use them when they need em.
