Do they like us or not like us? I feel sorry for Alaska and Hawaii, it must be sad for Alaska and Hawaii since they are loners from our country.

Hawaii could be blown to tiny little piece one day, by a volcanoes, and a tsunami could make Hawaii an underwater paradise.

Oh those poor lil Hawaii and Alaska people. It must be sad being loner states. It's like in school, the big popular group of friends all hang out together, but there is always 2 friends in that group that the popular group considers there friends, but the kids in the big group just sort of ignore the other 2 and only use them when they need em.

Alaska is bear country!!!!!! We can survive just as well as people from any other state. Personally, people have much more privacy, a lot less traffic (except in Anchorage) great school systems, and since it has so much oil, lots of money. It's a great place for snowboarding and skiing (HELL YEA!) and vacationing. Food is great there (Awesome tasting salmon and crab) and has so much culture. I kinda miss it, it's totally different from Cajun country over here in Louisisana.

There are 50 states, not 48. Alaska and Hawaii are included in that number, as they both gained "state" status a looong while ago. DC is a province, I believe. If you want to know about other "properties" of the US, Puerto Rico is a territory, as are many others (American Samoa, US Virgin Islands...)

I currently live in Alaska and I have been here for 2 years. I am from indiana and I have been all over the united states because my husband is in the military. Alaska is the most beautiful place that I have ever seen in my entire life. People that I have met here like us from the lower 48 and there are a lot of Hawaiian people here too, I have met a lot of them and they are just like us! If you ever get the chance to go to either one of those states, take the opportunity because they are so beautiful and breathtaking.

I've never been to Hawaii, so I don't dare speak for them. I feel extremely fortunate to be living in Alaska. I came up here a couple years ago from California. It warms my heart to think that people like you living in the Lower 48 clearly have no clue what it is like here in the Upper 1. You sound content to be down there and I'm equally happy for you to stay there. Enjoy!

I thank God that I was born and raised in HAWAII!It's paradise...no polluted air, no cloudy water, my skin doesn't dry after a shower, beautiful beaches, all kinds of people from different races who knows what ALOHA AINA means. A true "local" and "Hawaiian" knows and shows "ALOHA". Should I ever die by being blown up into little pieces by volcanoes and tsunami....I have no worries because my family and I will be in another paradise called the Kingdom of Heaven.

Your schoolyard analogy is backwards. Hawaii and Alaska are like the king and queen of the prom, envied by the unwashed horde on the outside ring of the dance floor.

Judging from your history... It seems like you might have an antisocial personality disorder.

I hope you get yourself some help.

Given the geography, Alaska should have been part of Canada. The U.S. paid the Russians a pittance for the territory, and it has been Canada's own fault that it didn't beat the U.S. to the punch. Now there's a huge oil pipeline running from Alaska down through B.C. to the U.S., and Canada doesn't get any of it. That oil reserve should have been Canada's.
