I live in the NYC vicinity and often read questions posted in this area. I read tons about 'affordable' or 'cheap' hotels and just have to ask.
What do visitors think is reasonable, affordable, and/or cheap in NYC?
Do you realize that the local roach motel will easily run you $100-$150 per night?
Do you realize that a 'decent' accomodation is going to cost about $200 per night and up?

I think NYC costs are probably 2 to 3 times as high as other destinations. Is this something that travelers to NYC factor in?

Is it helpful if I recommend a $200+ per night hotel that is clean and - for NYC - reasonably priced?

I'm in NYC, so there is obviously lots to do with a 4yo youngster. We're trying to find something new for our little guy to enjoy. We want to have a nice fun filled family day this Sunday. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I will be staying at the NYC Millenium Hilton in August in a corner suite on one of the high floors. I was wondering, if any of you have stayed here before (or even if you havent), which corner would provide me with the best view (NE, NW, SE, SW)? Your opinions are greatly appreciated - best answer to the person with the most detailed description. Thanks in advance!!

Leaving for NY tomorrow. Want to see a Broadway show. My daughter suggests Chicago. Which is best? I will either try the TKS booth at Times Square or use Theatermania for discount tickets. I know A Corus Line may not have any available.
By the way she hates Wicked!

Hey. I need to go to Saddle Brook NJ from New York City immediately, but my car has broken down : (. Is any chance that I could get there by PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION. I am a poor college student, so there is no way for me to think about TAXI. Thank you!

I live in NYC and my bf and I am looking to get out of the city for a long weekend. I was considering Montauk, but I'm concerned it's turned into an area similar to the Hamptons, and I don't want anything too obnoxiously ritzy or touristy.

Here's what we're generally looking for in a place:
- pretty quiet
- not much to do (so we don't feel pressured to see any "sights")
- a beach (preferably not ultra-crowded)
- semi-affordable (but it doesn't have to be super cheap)

Thanks in advance!

I'm going to NYC next year for school and I won't have a room mate, plus the school I'm going to doesn't have dorms. I can only afford about 1k a month for rent and was wondering where I could possibly live that's nice and not scary, considering I'm a pretty small female. Is there a region where I could possibly just get an apartment, like in a complex and not a private house? I know I won't be able to afford Manhattan but perhaps Long Island or Staten Island where ever it is I need something close to a train.

I know that I can walk, but this is just in the case of horrible weather. Is the Hard Rock Cafe even near Times Square? It's address is 1501 Broadway. Do I take the 1 and just get off at the first stop? And how do I find that subway line after getting off the train in Penn Station? Any help greatly appreciated!

My husband is going to Lower Manhattan for business, and I'll be tagging along. During the day, I'll be on my own to explore the area - can anyone offer a few "must sees, must shops, must eats" in the Lower Manhattan/Wall Street/Broadway area?
