The Milford Plaza is pretty good. Affordable, but nothing too exciting. If you have a little more to spend, stay at the Marriott Marquis or Hotel Edison. The first one is modern and really cool, and the second one is cute and older. Have fun!

I like to stay at the Marriott Courtyard Times Square South - - it's close enough to all the "buzz" but a little off the beaten path. You can hang out in Bryant Park when you need to take a break from the crowd! It's located on 40th between 6th & Broadway.

There are so many and you didn't give a price range, but in a perfect location is Hotel 17, on E. 17th St. between 2nd and 3rd Avenues.
Check on hotels.com to see if they're listed. We stayed there and it was fine, had a shared bathroom, but it was clean. And the location close to the East Village, union Square, the Village and downtown was perfect.
