Ok, this may seem like a silly question, but we are planning a 3 or 4 day trip to visit NYC and will stay the weekend. Would it be better to extend our trip to arrive on a FRIDAY? Or stay over the next MONDAY. Is the city any busier on a Mon vs Fri? In your opinion is the city busier then?

I live in California and I have never been to NYC. A few friends and I are planning to go this year, so I'm really excited! I was thinking that it would be best to go there in the late spring/early summer. What do you think? It's kinda hard to do a lot of site-seeing, in the snow. And I don't wanna have to wear a huge jacket the whole time...I want some nice weather! Maybe just take a light jacket. But I don't wanna go in the heat either.

Tell me what you think!

What if the odor NYC is experiencing were actually a dry-run, or a test for a future dirty bomb attack? They could be using a huge stink bomb to test the direction of the winds to see how big of a dispersal area or "Kill Zone" they'd have in the event they released a dirty bomb.

I'm not trying to make the statement that this is what it is, or get anyone all excited, but "What if"? Then what?

Never been to New York before; wife and I have free flights!!, and no restrictions on time, so thought we should stay longer than the normal 3 days to see more. Trying to plan everything right, and as we will have to book flights before hotel, wondered if we'd give ourselves more options - as hotel price / offers will be important to us - by arriving (flights get in at noon daily from Birmingham) on a particular day, say Sunday or Monday; also whether there is a best way to arrange the start / finish dates to get the best out of the city.
We'll hopefully be travelling in early to mid-May.
Thanks very much in advance.

David Letterman, said the mayor of New York gave a press conference where he mentioned the smell of gas and told people to leave windows open and use fans. I also heard about the smell of pancakes in New York. not long ago. What's up with this. Did New York really smell like pancakes. And what about the gas. What caused this?

I'm planning a 6 night vacation in New York for the end of May. My boyfriend and I are planning to save at least $2000 to cover all expenses. For anyone who's been to NY, is this a realistic amount? So far I have found some decent hotels going for around $150 a night. I am mostly worried about the higher cost of food, travel, etc.

I recently applied to N.Y.U, and am hoping on moving to the city this summer. I've visited N.Y. twice and I think it's a charming city, but some of the people I know seem to have a different opinion on this.
