The weather at the ending of March is usually around the 40's or 50's. So bring a jacket.

What to do is you can go sightseeing, either on the circleline boat (takes you around the island of Manhattan by boat), or one of those sightseeing buses.

To eat, there are plenty of restaurants in the Times Square area. You can go to Dallas BBQ on 42 st, right in the heart of Times Square, along with Bubba Gump Shrimp, and lot's more eatrys.

It is safe to ride the subway. Tourists do it all the time, so it won't be a problem. Just don't do it late night into the wee hours of the early morning. (12pm-5am) Especially if you are a toursit. If you are going to ride the subway often, by a 7 day unlimited Metro Card.

You can go see Letterman. The show is located on Broadway between 52nd and 53rd I beleive.

Yes New Yorkers are friendly, but you may run into a few rude ones. And for a fast moving city for some reason, people don't like to walk fast, or move out of the way.

So hopefully when you come to NYC, you will enjoy.

I was just there a couple weeks ago, and I went to a taping of Conan O'Brien and it was so fun! You can call the studio to make reservations to see Conan or Saturday Night Live, and its completely free!

The weather will be kinda cold since it will still be March, but not freezing. I would bring a jacket.

The subway it safe and very convenient. The New Yorkers are friendly but seem like they are busy and always have somewhere to go.

There are tons of restaurants, you can go to citysearch.com to look at reviews. Just go to Times Square and walk around, shop, eat, and do whatever! Have fun!

The weather will be pretty good. You should eat EVERYWHERE. They have the best restaurants in New York. I love the Rockafeller Cafe. You should definitely pay a visit to Timesquare and Fifth Avenue. It's great :-) And try the bubble tea, aka. Boba. It's amazing and very tasty. I'd try it in Original Milk. Yummy :-) New Yorkers are pretty friendly and it is pretty safe to ride the subway, just keep you belongings close to you just in case. Be aware. Also visit China Town, a place where you can find the bubble tea, There's a place called Quickly that's really good, and there are alot of stores you can shop around at. :-)

The subways are safe, but not free, and Jay Leno tapes in L.A. not N.Y.
Moderate cold, not freezing. New York is often windy though. Food is EVERYWHERE. You can eat at 4am if you like. Most New Yorkers just go about their business, but will help you if asked. First time travelers are usually amazing at the city's energy. Everything & everyone moves quickly. Don't hesitate at subway or elevator doors. You may get run over. Enjoy.

new yorkers are generally friendly, but also very cautious without really realizing it. eat a hot dog from Grey's papaya, they are the BEST!!! the juice there is excellent also. the subway is completely safe as long as you're not stupid. don't ride late at night to bad parts of the city, and don't carry a ton of shopping bags or luggage or cameras around, and don't fall asleep and you should be fine. shopping doesn't get better than NYC, so hit a few shops while you're there, you wont regret it ( or more likely you will ;) ...) have fun, NYC is absolutely one of my favorite cities in the us!

Good question on the weather. could be 70 and sunny, could be 28 and 6 inches of snow...you will know a few days prior by watching www.weather.com. Note it's almost always windy...even if warm.

Difficult to see letterman...you can get in line but unlikely,,,it's popular. New Yorkers are great people, helpful and outgoing...not too sure "friendly" is the exacat adjective, but if you ask for help, you will almost always get it but they aren't sitting around waiting to make new friends. Everyone is in a hurry!
To me, it's about the greatest city in the world. I love watching the people from all around the world...every ethnic and religious group...walking the streets. There are so many places to eat I wouldn't know where to start, depends upon where you are staying, what you like to eat and how much you have to spend. For moderate priced Chinese, I like Pig Heaven, around 80th and 2nd Ave...but there are tons of places to try. Lot's of good places in the Village, up on Columbus Ave...etc. Go to Lincoln Center and see/hear something. Of course, go to TKCTS booth on Broadway at Times Square and get reduced price broadway show tickets for same day performances. Go to the Natural History Museum, go to the Skating Rink in Central park and if you can afford it, go to Rainbow Room for a drink/show.
