What if the odor NYC is experiencing were actually a dry-run, or a test for a future dirty bomb attack? They could be using a huge stink bomb to test the direction of the winds to see how big of a dispersal area or "Kill Zone" they'd have in the event they released a dirty bomb.

I'm not trying to make the statement that this is what it is, or get anyone all excited, but "What if"? Then what?

Homeland Security spokesman Russ Knocke said there was nothing to suggest terrorism.

"That smell was stinking. It smelled like, toxic," said Alfred Stewart, 47, who lives in an apartment in Manhattan's Chelsea section. He said it smelled like a mix of oil and kerosene: "You stayed in it and held it enough, you probably would have got dizzy from it."

Twelve people were taken to hospitals with minor complaints such as irritation and difficulty breathing, fire officials said
Old Russ really had a lot to say, didn't he?

I didn't smell it in Williamsburg, Brooklyn but when I was getting off the subway at Union Square I smelled something like kerosene for just a second. If it were some sort of 'test', maybe I can hold onto the hope that if the wind is blowing the right direction, I MIGHT not die immediately after a dirty bomb in Manhattan...I guess we have to wait and see.

then looks like it got by DHS (department of homeland security)

$20 says that this answer gets sent directly to the cia or something due to the patriot act. dont be surprised if u cant books from the library or go to an airport without getting screened first.

as for the what if?

looks like we are &*%#ed!!! but wind patterns change everyday, so there is never a definitive area that can be hit 100% of the time.
