The Comedy Cellar is amazing. It's in SoHo on McDougal Street. It is not as commercial as Caroline's, so all the top comedians like Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, etc test out their new material there.
You must make reservations. It is a two drink minimum with no cover. They have dining as well. It is very intimate and I insure you a fabulous time.

i vote comedy cellar (though kind of small and cramped) or Carolines in Times Square (big but pricier). Never left either place without my face being sore from laughing.

carolines is definitely the best. It is a nice place and all the best comics perform there
