David Letterman, said the mayor of New York gave a press conference where he mentioned the smell of gas and told people to leave windows open and use fans. I also heard about the smell of pancakes in New York. not long ago. What's up with this. Did New York really smell like pancakes. And what about the gas. What caused this?

It's New Jersey.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of these events are tests to see how people respond and how the NYPD/FDNY/etc reacts.

It would concern me greatly if there was such a smell...and no one had answers. Even if the smell was of pancakes....that could be covering up something that was actually bad for you. If I were there...I would be demanding answers from someone in power. If you let them get away with this...what else might they try?? Another 9-11 perhaps???

I went there this past summer and didn't smell anything out of the ordinary. However, I heard on the radio there was some sort of smell in lower Manhattan the other day, and it was resolved stating the smell came from "Jersey" so that explains it.
