New york City or New york State? Visit the statue of liberty, empire state building, Niagara falls and look in a travel guide for more places.

Let me know how old you are and how old are the people you are going with.

I was born and raised in NYC and can help you out.

OK, There is lots to do. There is tons of shopping. Madison Ave and 5th Ave shops. But very expensive. Lots of less expensive shopping downtown on Orchard Street.

Afternoon Tea is a must when shopping. My personal favorite is the Pierre Hotel. The Plaza has a tea service as well.

A great guide is the Michelin Guide for NYC. It's inexpensive and tells you everything about NYC. Pick up a Zagat Survey as well. Also inexpensive. You can probably find both on Amazon.com

As far a comedy clubs there are many downtown. The Improv is an oldie but goody. The New York University area has a lot of action and comedy clubs especially for someone your age.

Rockefeller Center in the winter is really pretty; you can ice-skate there. Across the street is Saks Fifth Avenue and Saint Patrick's Cathedral. Also within walking distance are all the great shops you see in the movies (like Tiffany's). Chinatown is great to find really good knock-offs. Do yourself a favor and have a meal at Asia de Cuba ---what a great place! Want to see stars? Park yourself outside the NBC studios (also in Rockefeller Center) and you're bound to see a few.

Since you're going to Broadway why not stop for a good laugh @ Caroline's Comedy Club on Broadway? www.carolines.com

The New York Circle Line has boats leaving every 1/2 hour on the hour out of Battery Park, it takes you around the NYC harbor and up close and personal with the Statue of Liberty (or you can take the Staten Island ferry for free, also out of Battery Park). They also have dinner cruises, and nothing beats sunset at the Statue of Liberty. Since you'll be in the neighborhood, check out the New York Stock Exchange ---it is quite magestic when you stand in front of this place where you can actually breathe in the American dream! Take a picture on the famous Bull in Bowling Green (a few blocks from NYSE) and stop by the NY's best discount retailer: Century 21. Ground Zero is across the street, but I still don't get why tourists like to go there ---kind of eerie.

Want to see the city from the sky? NY Tours has a helicopter service that takes you over the city by chopper for about $100.00. It's totally cool, and that's the one thing you'll remember the most! here's the link: http://www.newyorkhelicoptertours.com/

Also, the great museums are: Whitney, MoMa, Guggenheim, and my favorite: American Museum of Natural History; make sure you go to their Hayden Planetarium and check out the current space show ---the last one was on how the earth was formed and it was truly amazing! http://www.amnh.org/

Don't walk around with your camera around your neck and a map --dead giveaway that you're a tourist, and it could make you a target for street hustlers. Avoid the subway if you can ---take the bus! this way you can do more sight seeing! here's the New York City transit link (where you can view maps, see schedules and lots more: http://www.mta.info/nyct/index.html

Have fun!!!

Greenwich Village
The Blue Note (jazz club)
Central Park
Carnegie Deli

I wouldn't bother with Broadway, London's West End is far superior.
P.S Why not get the Time Out guide to New York?

The Toys R US it is GYNORMOUS! THERE IS EVEN A FERRIS WHEEL INSIDE! Also the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building. You also MUST go see a show! I suggest Mumma Mia or Rent. I HIGHLY suggest Rent. It's very good. I think you would enjoy it. It's about aids and homosexualls and straights but mostly about aids! : ()
