OK. I am looking into making the "big move" and Colorado is my choice. I want to know more about Colorado from people who know Colorado. I look at all the websites & all I get is more confused. Yeah, you can suggest websites & I'll check them out. However, I am looking for people from Colorado to tell me all about Colorado. (this is NOT an invite for "hook ups" or anything like that.)

At what elevations does a normal (not necessarily very fit, but not sick person either) begin to notice their breath getting short, or their heart working a bit harder. E.g. someone going from about sea level to 8,000 ft to see the Rockies... would it be that noticable? What about 5,000 ft?

1. what are the best areas to live in colorado if I am looking for a home and willing to pay $1500 - 2000 a month? NICE AREAS! I heard south denver is the best and in highland ranch and Greenwood village is that true?

2. How much snow is there really? During the winter how much would it snow and how often? When does the snow/rain weather kick in and end?

3. Which nice cities in Colo get the most snow?

4. What other interesting weather facts could you give a person moving from Cali?

5. Like everywhere else, I am sure colorado has had its weird weather patterns lately, what have they been... if any?

6. Is it really difficult to drive in the snow? Are there a lot of accidents?

Any other information you may have to give that is important for someone like me and my situation would be much appreciated. Even if they are very obvious to you, they probably wont be to me!

THANKS!

You might be a pikes peak chicken if....?
The first person who puts 10 reasons a person might be a pikes peak chicken wins. Must be good reasons. Or, if you own the shirt that says that, copy it onto here

well, not a memorial per say, but some sort of indication that it is a special place, instead of a destitute reservation?

I was thinking of making a long weekend trip there in January or February with my husband but I don't want to go if it's going to be too cold. We're from Maine so we're used to below freezing but the Denver website says it's typically 60's during the day?!

I plan to visit some places around Denver over the weekend. Any nice place around Denver, which is around 2-3 hrs from Denver downtown by Amtrak train would be great. Any suggestions?

Please note that I don't have car. So, I am looking at visiting places which can be reached by train from Denver Downtown.

Although this is 2006, certain states are still more sensitive than others when it comes to ethnicity. Is the African American community accepted in Colorado Springs? I'm sure they are the minority there, but are any African Americans here on the board currently living in Colorado? I am looking for an area that has a mixture of ethnic groups, or at least are accepting of other ethnicities. Thanks

We will be moving from Wisconsin to Castle Rock, CO in the Spring/Summer of 2007. We are building a new home there & would appreciate your input & advice as to how that area is to live. Our two children will be moving with us but will be attending Colorado State University as a Freshman & Sophmore. We would like your input on that university as well. Thanks!
