I'm moving from Boston to Houston and was wondering what the people will be like. I've never really been far south.. last year I was in Atlanta and was amazed at how friendly people were; it threw me off a little bit. Here that's often considered creepy, but I guess that's the "southern hospitality" thing?

So... will I get along with people in Houston? Will it really be that different since it's a big city?

Hotels are expensive, and camping is more fun.

Right?

My wife and I were both raised in Orange County, CA. We now have 3 small children and are looking for a change of pace/better value society to raise a family. We like outdoor activities with the family, so that is why we are looking at Fort Collins. Our favorite activites are off-road motorcycles, PWC/boats, camping, and going to the park with the kids. Any comments on these activities in this area?

My biggest concern is that we will miss all the options that we have in So Cal (proximity to Vegas, San Diego, world-class beaches, Lake Havasu). Will it be too drastic of a change?

If you have firt hand experience of Orange County and Fort Collins area, I'd especially like to hear your comments. Thanks!

I DESPERATELY want to move to hawaii. I plan on having $10,000 saved up before I go. I am a single mom, usually employed as a secretary. (make anywhere from 12-16 dollars an hour). Do you think I can survive there? I am not worried about the racisim towards whites that I have heard about, as I am half Filipino and most people here in the states think I am Hawaiian. I am more concerned about the cost of living. I don't mind living in a bad neighborhood. As a singlemom you get used to it, and I have never had any problems. Am I crazy? I have one child, he is 4 years old and mildy autistic. I currently live in the middle of nowhere, and I am going insane. Please I need opinions of all ages...I was planning on going in about 18 months. Thanks!!
