I've always dreamed of moving to new york and something that I have always dreamed of was a new york christmas. It looks so nice, skating in central park, everything looks wonderful... Is it really like that in Detroit? I'm from a small town in Michigan, its gotta b better than here...

New York is a wonderful place to be over the winter holidays. Fifth Avenue is all decorated, lit up. Rockefeller Center looks inviting. Bryant Park too. Summerstage concerts in Central Park. All the museums. I love NYC all the time, any season.

my suggestion is to take a week in december and than a week in the summer and stay in new york to see how you like it. the christmas season can be a great experience in new york. i suggested the summer also because you will be able to see what the city is like without so much activity going on during christmas season. and it may be totally different experience one you may or may not like.
