Travel (General) - May 2007

I live in S.Carolina and would like to get on a plane to try to conquer my fears, something small like from Savannah to Jacksonville or Orlando, that way I am not on the plane for a long time. Is this a good idea, or not what do you suggest.

No one would go with me, I would be by myself, so if that helps, just wanted to let ya'll know that.

We're taking our first trip to Costa Rica. I am very excited. I know I will need shorts and lightweight pants, plus a rainjacket. I would like to take a skirt and matching top to wear at night, to be a bit more dressy. I would like to fit in with what locals are wearing if possible, and to be comfortable and hopefully look nice.

What clothing would those of you who've traveled to Costa Rica recommend?

A friend of mine booked a Disney vacation through Hotwire. She says the travel dates were correct when she submitted the vacation. However, when Hotwire issued her the credentials, the Disney tickets were the correct date, but the hotel/airfare/rental car tickets were all the wrong date. Unfortunately, the dates on the tickets were 5 weeks before the trip, and she did not catch this error till after the incorrect travel dates had passed. Her actual dates of travel are not until the first week of June. Hotwire agents have said, basically, that it is her fault for not catching their error, and that there is nothing they can do about it. Does anyone have any suggestions for this? Is there anything that can be attempted or done, or is she just out of the $1300.00??? Any responses or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

This Sunday, I would like to go somewhere with my family and my friend's family for the day. I live in Leicester, so anything that's more than about 3 hours away is too far. Any ideas where we can go? There are two sets of middle aged parents, two 14 year olds, a 17 year old and a 3 yr old. cheers!

I just graduated college and now I want to see the world. Problem is, my dad manages a gas station and I am a waitress so funds are very limited. I can travel anywhere (meaning I have no qualms with any cultures and I am quite adept at picking up languages customs etc) So my question is this: Where in the world will my American dollars convert into the most luxuriant/affordable experience? I am thinking perhaps Thailand or Hong Kong, or maybe South America. Any and all insight will be most appreciated! :)
