What places are best to visit in Australia for a first time visit?

hi there,
i was fascinated by the arrival of the USS Kittyhawk in Sydney Australia, but felt kind of jibed because i live in Brisbane and wanted to see the massive ship. But i was watching the news adverts on the TV today 10/07/07 (d/m/y) and i saw that it was comming to brisbane.

can someone tell me if this is true, where it is docking, and how long it is staying for as i would dearly love to go and see it. also i am unable to watch the news tonight as i have sporting commitments from 5.30-7.30

I will soon be a registered nurse in the UK and I am thinking about continuing my career in New South Wales, Australia. I was therefore wondering what the employment prospects were for foreign trained nurses in that area?

Also, how much does an average nurse in NSW earn yearly? and is it enough to live on?

We are moving to Townsville to study but need to pick up furniture in Melbourne at relatives house.

Anyone done that trip before, how long does it take? (yes i realize Australia is HUGE and we'll be driving for a few days...maybe more??). Also, any estimate on fuelcosts driving a secondhand 4*4? Thankfull for any thoughts!

Myself and two of my best friends are planning to move to Australia within the next 6-7months. We are obtaining working visa's for a period of up to one year, however we're not sure which city we'd like to move to.

We are all 21 years old, love the beach, nightlife & shopping. However, we don't want to spend over $550(max) each on rent. So thats a 3 bedroom for $1650 per month. Any ideas??

I'd like to hear from native Australians about their country. All I know is what I see in movies. What is life like there? What r the people like there? Friendly? Do they keep to themselves? Ive been in touch with the Australian government who stated they would only except my parrot from New Zealand, but new zealand dont let parrots in from the UK. He is an African Grey Parrot and hes my Baby, he talks to me all day, he says 'good morning honey' In the morning and 'nite nite' at bedtime. He drinks my tea and dances for me.
