A traditional hotel for special occasions is the Hydro Majestic in the Blue Mountains http://www.hydromajestic.com.au/ although it is not exactly cheap. Canberra is an easy three hour drive from Sydney and is an excellent place for a weekend away with lots to see and do. There are hotels and resorts in all price ranges.

Watch television, scratch what itches, have a brilliant time. On Sunday at 4 open the basement door and tell her to get upstairs and make you some dinner. Take a look at kayak.com. It runs a search of all hotel sites and allows you to filter exactly what price, how many stars, and where it's located. Then you can look at pictures and read the amenities of the place and decide which place looks best for you.

I'd look for something on the Central Coast, Port Stephens / Nelson Bay or the Hunter Valley.

Would she prefer wineries, whale watching, markets, beaches or relaxation?
