Life here is great. We are a very relaxed, laid back but hard working people. We are a multicultural society and we get on very well with each other despite what you may hear on the media. We give everyone a "fair go" and do expect the same from others.
If you treat us the way you want us to treat you - you will be fine. Come here and enjoy our culture. Don't come here and brag about how good your country is because if you do - why bother coming here? (You will likely be told to go and "get stuffed") Don't try to talk like we do or try to imitate our accent. That is NOT cool. Just be yourself and have fun. You will learn to talk like us if you stay long enough.
We are a sarcastic bunch who love to make fun of other - but in a friendly way. But we can also laugh at ourselves. Don't get offended if someone call you a "bastard" because it means they probably like you.
Depending on where you go in this great continent - you will experience different weather conditions and the way people live their daily lives. Be prepared for that.
We are a sport mad people and to enjoy this country. You need to go to at least ONE football match (either Rugby or AFL - doesn't matter), barrack for a team and drink copious amount of beer to truly understand what Aussie passion is all about.
Do more research and ask more question about us if you want to know more.

I like life in New Zealand....I realised how much when I lived in the UK!!!
I missed the friendly and helpful people!! I missed the weather....having said that we are having pretty crapish weather here at the moment!! It is winter and we have colder weather than Oz ( BUT not as hot which is more pleasant in the summer time...we rarely go above 350C in summer).
The scenery is pretty impressive too I have to say.... and so varied over a small area....ok we don't have the rich history of Europe, but we are pretty proud of our achivements!
Also note...do NOT say the Kiwi and Aussie accents are the same!! If you live in either place for any length of time you will see ( hear) the diffs...It REALLY annoyed me being called an Aussie all the time in the UK!! We are proud to be "different" from Oz, but having said that I found more in common with Aussies ( and South Africans) than I ever thought possible when I was there as well!!!
Every place has their own problems...I would say from our perspective, the Aussies is the accent and their arrogance!! Its really weird and I don;t know why ( mind you its that arrogance which makes the bloody aussies win at sport all the time!).....here in NZ...well we have or issues too ( maybe not as dire as the aussie faults...ha ha).
sport is very important here in both countries too!

I personally think it'll be a great idea. You have the Euro with various European nations, The United Kingdom with Great Britain and Ireland, then you have the United States of America with all the various states including Hawaii and Alaska etc. I think a United Australia & New Zealand (UAN?) or United Oceania (whatever you wish to call it) will reap benefits for both of the countries in regards to trade (as the world starts to become more globalised) and also in regards to the generation and implementation of political ideals and policies. People who are saying that it won't benefit New Zealand aren't thinking clearly. The defining laws can be made flexible to ensure both countries benefit fairly. Both countries will still have their own separate government, yet there will be a joint 'seat' or 'table' to govern over specific elements such as foreign affairs, trade, immigration, human rights and defence. New Zealand will honestly gain more than Australia. It can propel New Zealand in regards to foreign affairs, trade and grant even stronger and closer military ties (with trade and foreign affairs being vital to sustain New Zealands economy). Australia also has much to learn from New Zealand in regards to human rights, culture and the environment (which could use improvement in modern day Australia).

I Live in Western Australia...I am very biased obviously because I call Australia home...there is such diversity here....if you go to Queensland you will experience rain forest and sub tropical weather, gorgeous beaches and the largest expanse of coral reef in the World. If you head down to Sydney you will get to see iconic Architecture such as the Harbor bridge, Sydney Opera House and the beautiful harbor and buzzing Metropolitan environment. Head across the Bass Straight and you'll will experience a picturesque Island covered in dense cold forest with water falls and rolling hills, Tasmania is full of culture and friendliness and ease.
Check out Melbourne for the Urban landscape and fashion and food culture all is cutting edge and innovative as is their city's architecture. Enjoy the night life here.
Over to Western Australia....the largest state in our Island country boasting the most isolated city in the world Perth, laid back and full of charm with vineyards and winery's to the south and seemingly endless outback to the north and east.
The Northern Territory is truly Gods work at best with Magnificent Natural wonders and monsoon type climate.
Well there is a summary of my favorite aspects of Australia, make sure you drop us a visit!
