5 mates and I rented a motor for ten days and we are leaving from the Gold Coast and want to travel down the coast and try to reach Melbourne and come back. We are new to the country and Uni students. We are having trouble figuring out where the best spots would be to stop and check out. We have 10 days for our trip and get back. If anyone has any tips on where we should go and what is the best stuff to see. We are trying to avoid being in the big cities as much as possible. Cheers!

My darling Mummy was an Australian and, although I was not born there, I lived there a few years myself.
Now I'm living in South Africa, my place of birth but would like to apply for Australian citizenship with the view to moving there forever and ever amen.
I'm completely estranged from my mother though and haven't seen hide nor hair of her in almost 22 years so getting information from her is not an option.
Could anyone tell me how I'd go about the process nonetheless? All help will be most appreciated!
THANK YOU!!

My husband is likely to be offered a job there and before he can accept we need to find out about schools. We have 3 boys aged 6 , 8 and 15 and I am concerned about their education and the cost implications as I think you need to pay for public ( state ) schools and don't know how much this would be. Any other information on moving to Australia would be greatly appreciated as I feel excited but nervous about such a massive decision and don't really know where to start as he doesn't yet know where he will be based, although it is likely to be one of the main cities. My eldest son would be taking his exams this yr, he is not particularly interested in higher education - is he likely to be able to learn a trade quite easily ?

So now we're going to drive from Gold Coast to Sydney. But apparently Byron Bay and other coastal towns are also popular during schoolies?? Any advice? I'm worried this is going to be the holiday from hell and a total waste of money...

Check out the link below regarding changes to the Electoral Act: on the day Howard declares the election date, the Electoral Rolls close! This will disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of voters, most of them young first-timers.

So if you're not already enrolled, now is the time to get your name down.

Coming home to Australia in a few weeks and am planning a trip up north with the girl.

We are in Byron for a week before heading north for a week before flying into melbourne then to my home in Sydney.

The only question is which is going to give us better value for money up north - the whitsundays or noosa.

To fly to whitsundays to melbourne to sydney is $532.
To drive to Noosa (free), fly to melbourne to sydney is $206.

Also worth remembering we're both young and on a budget!!

I was just wondering, I know that you aren't allowed to let the flag touch the ground whilst putting it up and taking it down, but is it also offensive to leave it out in the rain? I have heard it somewhere but don't know if it's true.

I'm American, not a college-looking kid, have already a master of counseling psychology but little experience.I plan to pursue a masters of environment at UTAS and work as a counselor while I'm at uni. then when I graduate I want to work as environmentalist, and get a permanent visa.
What are the chances of getting a job in Australia, and getting a PR status after I graduate ? Anybody knows ? is Tasmania a good place to study and work at the same time, or is Victoria, or QLD better places ?. I'd appreciate your advice.
Thank you !
