Hi, my partner and I am going to be emigrating from the UK to New Zealand but where in New Zealand? Can you please help!

We after somewhere with:
* good job prospects (I'm a legal secretary, my partner is a service engineer for gym equipment)
* house prices musnt be too expensive
* nice location i.e. scenery, crime. would be nice to be overlooking or close to a beach, lake (i love dolphins)
* dont really want a long drive to work each day
* good shops & activities
* also relaxing and peaceful (if possible)

I think Wellington is possibly out for us as dont like the sound of earthquakes every 2 to 3 months and personally I dont like it windy.

I think our main concern is job prospects and a 'nice' area.

So have I made it near impossible to find our perfect place in NZ?

I'm USA citizen looking to do a little volunteer work for under 3 months. Does this mean I don't need a visa? is there anything I DO need?

Can anyone give me tips on getting travel insurance?

I am planning to go travelling round the world and I am looking for some advice and tips. I am planning to go for 2 months and a half. I want to do stopovers in Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, South Pacific - most probably Tahiti and then go to LA or SF in USA. Iam not sure what agency is the best to go through to. I am not sure about the budget and accommodation. Can you recommend some good, clean and safe hostels? Iam in my early thirties so I guess I am not looking for a hostel full of young teenagers. What places are best to visit in these places and what other things are good to remember? Thanks.

My partner and I want to take our kids camping towards the end of the year. We have the equipment but no idea where to go. It needs to be close to the beach. It has to be kid friendly. It cannot be more then 6hrs in any direction from Terrigal on the NSW Central Coast.
Any help would be appreciated.

I'm trying to plan a backpacking trip to Australia for between 3-5 weeks in November, but after reading tour info don't know where to start! I have about £2000/2500, which needs to include return flights from the UK. Can any one give me any ideas/experiences to narrow my confusion down! I'd love to see any number of places including Perth, Sydney, Cairns, Alice Springs, Uluru and the great barrier reef. Perth is a definate, but after that I'm more interested in seeing less cities. Is the trip from Perth-Cairns a better option than Sydney-Cairns? And can I find my way from Cairns to Alice Springs? I'm planning on staying in hostels/tents/anything really, just want to explore. Does anyone have any ideas?

If I am flying to Australia do I need to apply for a visa, or is this done automatically when I buy the plane ticket?

I know this is a vague question but I really don't know where to begin planning this one! There are 2 of us, and we have 3 weeks. We hope to have in the region of £6000, this is to include our flights. We want to stay in b&bs or hotels, cheap but not hostels. We want to take in Queensland and the Great Barrier Reef, Uluru, and possibly the Great Ocean Road. We'd like to do some adventurous stuff too, like skydiving and rafting, quad biking etc. Basically the absolute most we can with the time and money we have. We don't want to waste a minute as this is taking all our savings (its going to be March 09, not 08, so we can save!) and 2 loans and is a once in a lifetime trip! Any help/advice/ideas at all would be appreciated. Things like internal flights etc all seem a bit baffling, and although I've read the travel guides I'm more confused than before I knew a thing!!!

Firstly I was told by someone that you need to be able to prove that you have enough money to support yourself for the year. Does anyone know how much money you need to have in your bank account for it to be considered enough to support yourself?

Secondly, after that year is up I know I will want to continue living there permanantly as I've been before and loved it. But I am not married to an Australian and am not what could be considered "highly skilled" so is there any other way?

I’m trying to enjoy the best of both places like hitting the beach and snow skiing and just about anything and everything, this is going to be like my most advantageous, craziest vacation ever.
I’m thinking around March, April, or May??

Hi, I'm planning to do a road trip around Australia either sometime next year or the year after.

I live in Canberra so I'll be leaving from here.

I'm looking for any suggestions, destinatons, attractions, off the tourist areas including any hidden gems like other attractions that most tourists don't know about.

I've only got a normal car with a UHF CB Radio installed. So can't go off road or anything like normal 4WD driving people do.

If anyone has any suggestions or anything else let me know.

I also have a group on facebook which everyone is welcome to join.

Discover Australia:

Looking forward to hearing some ideas and suggestions soon.

Thank you
