I am going there to visit and it looks really nice there somewhere i could be comfortable, Whilst I spoke to my friend and he said they hate americans. I'm not sure how Australians think of or treat americans there.any comments about it or experiences?

Australia is one of the most multicultural places in the world, specially in the cities.
Aussies love friendly hospitality and meeting people. Our laid back style and easygoing nature means that in conversations we often pause more then those in the U.S. This is our way and on a whole goes over very well. Unfortunately unlike those in the US it is considered extremely rude for visitors to discuss our Political situations or religion....... or the worse mistake Americans seem to make is give us advise on how we should be doing things.
Some Americans I have met have dominated conservations with criticisms and "advise" these people were rude. I have also met a few nice Americans who didn't act like know it all's. This type is MOST welcome and you may make some friends for life.
So as the add states
"where the bloody Hell are ya??"

Shreetwit: did immigration or customs bust you for drugs or overstaying your visa?
Australia is extremely yank friendly, just remember not to talk politics or make comparisons to the USA, you WILL NOT like the responses you get. Talk beer and football, any code of football (just not american) and bring your sense of humour.
In WA (western aust) there are thousands of ex-pat americans, who love it here, so it can't be too bad.
Why would thousands stay if we hated you guys so much?
Just keep in mind that Aussies are some of the fairest minded people you will ever meet, we have our social problems sure, but we don't grandstand to the world proclaiming that we are the greatest.
By most accounts the americans living here feel a lot more relaxed and at home here than they ever did in the US.
Aussies aren't money obsessed, we like to socialise and we like to have fun. The great aussie tradition of taking the piss is alive and well. Learn to take the piss out of everything and you will be guaranteed a great time.

We've been there and were welcomed with open arms.
Get your visa in order and go. Remember the seasons are reversed so it is great to leave winter here and be in summer there. We spent Christmas there and loved it.
Leave your attitude at home - people generally treat someone with respect when they are treated with respect - and perhaps your driver's license. They are on the other side of the road from us and unless you plan to be there a long time, it is not worth the risk of reverting back to driving on the right side into oncoming traffic.
Finally, use a debit card to get cash; bank fees with increase your costs needlessly. Don't try to exchange a lot of money since you can get cash back at just about any store.

Americans are frequent and welcome visitors here in Australia, and most find they have an enjoyable holiday full of interesting sights and experiences.
Some people do have negative experiences, and I think one of the reasons is that they assume that because Australia and the US are similar in many ways the two countries are the *same*.
But Australia is very different to the US in lots of ways, not just interesting animals!
The people who have the best time in ANY foreign country come with their minds open and avoid commenting on the customs and practices of the host country until they know a little about them.

We don't hate Americans. We may have some preconceived notions about Americans. Some Aussies are arses but others (most Aussies) could not care less where you (or anyone) comes from as long as they are a nice, friendly, laidback, courteous person. In fact, most Americans living in Aust. (or travelling and getting out of America) have made a good impression on me.

As an American who spent 4 months in Australia, I have to say that I had an entirely positive experience. I fell in love with the places and the people and I can't wait to go back to visit! I never had any interactions with any Aussie's who gave me the impression that they hated me/Americans.

Australians will happily get along with anyone from anywhere, as long as they have similar values. If you like a good time, arent full of yourself, and dont take everything too seriously, then chances are you will fit in well. Just like all countries, we have our "wankers", or "tools", which your friend may have met. People treat you as you treat them. I have american friends who at first didnt know how to take some of us, as we can be very blunt, which can be interpreted as rude, but one of our most defining points is our sheer honesty, which can take some time to get used to. I for one dont hate americans, only idiots, and they come from all sorts of countries, including ours!

Come to Queensland. It is a beautiful place to holiday, and the people are friendly and inviting. I don't, nor does anyone I know personally have a problem with or dislike Americans. Don't be put off by all the negative replies.

As an Australian living in America, i couldn't give a **** what Americans think of me, and you shouldn't worry about what others think of you, either.
I worked with many Americans when i lived in Australia, if there was hate there, i never saw it.

Why don't you ask the boys from the USS Kitty Hawk I think they all had a pretty good time when they were here.
It's not Americans we don't like just one in particular George but I don't think we are the only ones.
You will have great time just make sure you bring your sense or humour with you.
