I am planning to go travelling round the world and I am looking for some advice and tips. I am planning to go for 2 months and a half. I want to do stopovers in Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, South Pacific - most probably Tahiti and then go to LA or SF in USA. Iam not sure what agency is the best to go through to. I am not sure about the budget and accommodation. Can you recommend some good, clean and safe hostels? Iam in my early thirties so I guess I am not looking for a hostel full of young teenagers. What places are best to visit in these places and what other things are good to remember? Thanks.

I just recently helped my teenage son plan his 'round the world trip' It was a school project but had to be real itinerary etc.

I spent a month on it with him researching ideas.
The best one I came across was 'One World' - http://www.oneworld.com
"Plan your round-the-world trip by downloading the oneworld Explorer Trip Planner." (look on the right in the purple box to download)

AMAZING program!!!! It lets you book where you want - gives you the options of times/airlines etc. at the end of your planning you can get a price – book online – change flights etc….. heaps of options.

For our 'trip' it was Australia – USA (4 states) – Canada (Toronto to Quebec) - London - Paris - Switzerland – Italy - Austria -Germany – Tokyo and back to Australia.

example - 4 Continents $3,200

Hope that helps you.

Your plans sound fantastic and I can list a couple of websites you may wish to look up. They will have prices and indications of costing for round the world tickets etc. We did Thailand, Australia and Fiji.

Some hotels can be very competitive in pricing.
