im from the uk and have moved to australia, the people here are friendlier and the weathers nice and warm where i am and its a nicer place to bring up your kids...but the uk has got more...cant think of the word...oomph maybe? its nice and laid back here but i miss the hustle and bustle, i miss being able to walk everywhere as everything here is so spread out. but it is nice to be able to walk down the street and not fear getting mugged and stabbed although i'm sure that kind of stuff does happen here its not nearly as bad as the uk though.
my heart still belongs to england though!

YES - TONS better!! I live in the UK and spent 3 and a half months in Australia this year. The UK is so boring and dull, there's basically nothing to do except shop! Australia is better because there is so much environmental diversity, and loads of different climates, plus tons of activities to choose from. The public transportation is 10 times better in Australia, making it easier to get around without a car. Here in the UK, I feel bored and trapped by the lack of opportunity and excitement.
And to top it all off... there aren't any chavs in Australia!!!

I am sure that most people who live in either country will state that their own is the best. I cannot make the comparison because i haven't been to Australia and even if i did i would have to stay for quite a while and see much of the country before making a reasoned judgement.

You really can't compare the two. Our weather is much better, and our lifestyle more laid back. Australia is much bigger, with sandy beaches and vast expanses of desert. We have tropical and temperate climates, dependng on where you are.

It's really a matter of preference. I was born in Australia, it's my home and I love it.
I just recently went to the airport to say Goodbye to a British friend who missed home terribly and returned there after 6 years here, but I live across the road from a family who say they will never go back. It's an individual choice.

Oh.. ad christycat88 - suggest you brush up on UK politics & their involvement with the US. Good grief.

Depends what you want in a country. Australia has bundles of what I want so I would have to say Australia but the UK has more cultural significance and has big fat currency and a whole bunch of awesome places to spend it in nearby.

Before another pom says we are dumb go down to your local pub and check out some of the halfwit geezerz and pill heads.

Clueless or careless would be more appropriate for us. =)

We are a bit short of chavs and hooray henrys in Australia so if you don't like then, why not drop in for a look. Incidentally we have a decent share of Nobel Prizes too including the youngest ever recipient.

Short answer is 'YES'
Better weather generally.
More of an outdoor style of living.
Beaches are mostly white sand and the surf is always up.
Beer is cheaper.
Petrol is cheaper.
Housing is better etc etc etc
I think you will find Australia a great place to live.
