A Queenslander can be a person living in Queensland (preferably born there, according to my purist neighbours LOL)
or.. it can be a house
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Queenslander3.JPG
"Queenslander" homes are raised with large open areas underneath to take advantage of breezes and protect against flood. They usually have large verandahs perfect for sitting and sipping a nice glass of something chilled while watching the Queensland sunset :-)
For our Southern cousins:

More houses. The photo at the bottom is actually the most typical of the older style as it is somewhat smaller.

A Queenslander, a citizen of Queensland.
Also a "Cockroaches" (read New South Welshman or The_Mouse) worst nightmare during the annual State Of Origin, 3 game, Series in Rugby League. :-)
jobees is right about a "Queenslander" being a style of home.
Some of the distinctive features of a "Queenslander" are:
nine foot ceilings
corrugated metal roofing
extensive use of timber on floors and throughout
wide verandas
often on high stumps
