I'm going to Hua Hin, 3 hours south of Bangkok. Not sure whether to take our own and pack it in the already over-heavy bags or whether I could buy it out there?

I'm going on a trip to Japan in January, and was told to carry cash because it was easier than trying to use a foreign credit card. Is it better to exchange money here in the U.S., or should I wait until I get to Japan to do so? Also, how much would you recommend taking? I will be there for 5 days and will be staying with friends. I want to do some sight seeing in and around Tokyo, and do some shopping.

I will be going to Thailand at the end of Jan/07. I am not sure where I should go. I will be there for a week by myself or with a few friends. We are looking to golf, golf, drink, and uh golf. Where is a good place for golf/ nightlife...just a fun place to go for 3 guys for 1 week and where are good places to stay. My girlfriend will be meeting me in thailand the 2nd week Im there so no more golf, but where is a good place for couples to go and see, relax, and just chill? I am planning a round the world trip for next year and so far this is what I have come up with, although this may well change again!

Flight from London to Moscow, TransMongolian railway to Beijing (best price I have found is either £190 2nd class or £300 1st class), Fly from Beijing to Bangkok- I plan on doing a couple of day trips from Bangkok such as the River Kwai and Ayuthaya by bus.
An internal flight from Bangkok to Phuket, then a bus and boat to Ko Samui and Ko Phangan. The next part Im a bit unsure of but I would like to fly from Ko Samui to Ho chi Minh City and then work my way north to Hanoi by bus and then plane. (I have left out Cambodia and Laos as Im not sure what there is to see there).
Fly from Hanoi to Singapore and then fly to Darwin - Overland to Sydney, fly from Sydney to Auckland - Fiji - New York and then back to London.
If anyone has backpacked around Asia, would you include or exclude any of the places I have mentioned or perhaps change the order?
