I lived in the Phillippines in the 1980's. The beer was cheap, the food was good, and the women were cheap and good. Filipinos get their p's and F's mixed up whenthey talk. Once saying that we had back then was " You know you have been in the Philippines too long when you ask for a Fepsi and your Dog has Pleas".

Most Filipinos did not have an education, but they were very friendly.

Filipinos are generally more hospitable, more polite than other races. However, not all Filipinos are like that.
Filipinos value education a lot. Most are college graduates. However, a certain percentage of our population didnt even go to school. Here you will see the extremes. Not all educated people are polite, some may be bossy! Not all uneducated are ill mannered, some of them might be better than the educated once. Basically, it depends on the upbringing of the people.
Be careful about the pickpocketeers in our country. We are even victims of this. I even lost my cellphone. I was already holding my bag carefully since I knew that somebody in the jeepney looks like one. I was surprised, i still lost it.
Basically our people are like your people also but a bit polite! Some people take advantage of the foreigners. Others wont mind you!
One piece of advice, while travelling here, be careful! Be careful of your wallets, your cellphones & even your cameras.
Some foreigners would think that some Filipinas as cheap. Well, it depends on where you go. If you really go to the bars, you will find one there. Most Filipinos are still conservative. Marriage is still respected & we dont have divorce here. There are people reaching their 50th Golden Wedding Anniversary. It follows then that Abortion is not legalized here. Still only a very small percentage of our people would go for it. Comparing it with the USA or other countries.
A great percentage of Filipinos are hard working! However, they just find jobs abroad because salary here is lower. It then follows that cost of living here is still lower compared to US, Europe & other parts of Asia.

I am Filipino, I can be a good guy and I can be impolite too. I am respectful and can be annoying sometimes. I am not boastful because I am what I am. I am not a braggant but will insists my way. I am a Filipino and different from other Filipinos.

What I am driving here is you can't say someting about the Filipino people except our race. Filipino traits? There is not unique about us. We claim to be hospitable, but other nationalities say they are. We say westerners talk so loud, yet our filipino brothers talk with their cellphone so loud even when a seminar or conference is going on.

They're very friendly, smiling people and I love them all (I've been here 14 years, as a retired Brit) but trying to get them to be more efficient in their work instead of doing things 'their way', is very frustrating sometimes as I could halve their work time for particular jobs with the right preparationsand methods. All work here seems to be job creation schemes as we always have to either go back and do it again, or it's never quite finished, somethings always missing.
Anyway, that's why I don't do much here, so I can remain relaxed and enjoy this beautiful country, exploring hundreds of the islands already on my yacht and speedboat. I've never been hassled outside the cities and even when I drop my anchor in a remote bay, the locals paddle out to say Hi, or to sell me a fish, and they're being hospitable. If they paddled out to me in Indonesia I'd bugger off pretty damn quick!!!
So, to sum up, they're great, but the last 10% is missing in most things.
By the way, I believe that it's the women of this country that keep it going, they seem to do all the work outside the cities while the guys lie around smoking!

YES! Lots of Filipinos are polite and friendly but, of course, there are also ones that aren't. Filipinos are hospitable. Good cooks and are diligent.

All the Filipinos I have worked with (mainly in Saudi Arabia) have all been great, with fantastic memories, and all without exception very polite and helpful.
They were working 11 months in Saudi without any home leave, and I never heard one complain !
Great bunch of folk!

My husband is first generation in US, his parents were both born and raised in the Phillipines.
My husband is a wonderful, kind, caring man. It has nothing to do with his race. You cannot judge a person or a group of people on the actions of a few. If you do, you are racial profiling them and no matter how you cut it, it's wrong.
I have met people in my husbands family I can't stand. I don't like them because they are annoying, selfish and rude. I has to do with how they are brought up, not the cultural background.
