I'm taking a trip from Stockton, CA to Laguna Beach, CA - Probably by the 5 or 99 freeway- is there anyway to find out the weather before i get stuck in the snow on the overpass?

Ever since I was little, ive always wanted to go to L.A. Theres always been something about it that really interests me. My friend & I were thinking about going out there for a few weeks or something and 'trying it out'. I would really like to live out there. I also would like to attend FIDM & get a nice job.
The only problem is, ive never actually been to a big city like L.A. I live in a small town in the south.I really want to move there & go to college, but im so afraid that I will get out there & be homesick and clueless.
Also, what are places to avoid, such as parts of town, restaurants, hotels...etc.?

Has anyone else moved to LA from a small town???

A friend and I (girls) want to plan a trip in late march - I've confused myself with looking at too many travel sites. Can anyone suggest a nice hotel they have stayed at. Also what sort of prices are the excursions and what is the best way to see more - like Cairo and Luxor - any recommendations welcomed! We are going for 7 days. THANKS!

I am going to be leaving in August to study abroad for a year. I will be going to Italy, however I would like to fly into either Düsseldorf or Amsterdam and visit a friend before starting school in mid September. Basically I want to book a roundtrip ticket into DUS/AMS in late August and out of Milan MXP before Christmas. When is the best time to do this and what are the best sites? I have tried STA Travel, and generally they are fairly cheap, however, not for this flight it seems. Maybe it's too far in advance to get a good price. Also would it be cheaper to get one way tickets? Another thought I had was to call the airlines personally...is that beneficial? Is there some sort of student rate? Thanks to all!

Just a note to let anyone know that if you have booked with bmi they have cancalled all their flight in April from Londonheathrow to Spain and Paris so if you have booked beware they have as yet not refunded my money or notified me,but they are offering you flights from Gatwick depending on availablity.but gatwick is too far for some people.They are leaving it a bit late to notifey Travelers so if you have to go you will choose their alternative or be stuck
