I mean really...I can't comprehend how an individual doesn't know how to swim. I personally don't remember learning how to swim b/c I've been swimming my whole life. If you put a baby in water it will instinctivaly start swimming. How are some adults not skilled in the art of swimming. (I'll even accept doggy paddling)

I've tried to glide through the water after every other stroke in freestyle. And I have tried to use wave stroke and glide underwater after every stroke in breaststroke, sometimes with a slight butterfly kick to boost.

I have a large tub that I keep my pool chemicals in (chlorine, algeacide, PH etc...) Is it ok to keep it outside on my deck or is it too hot for it? Should I keep them in my garage instead? I don't have a shed and I'd like to keep them as close and convenient to my pool as possible.

I have joined swimming classes. I am 38 years of age. It is a month since the coach told us to kick and all the chaps (kids from age 5 onwards) have mastered the kick, except me. Do you start kicking from the hips or is it from the knees ? And, How about the Ankle part of the leg ? Should I stretch the ankle like a Russain ballet dancer on her toes and then start hitting the water, flat ? Every other person in the swimming class, I am sure are following their own methods. No two persons follow the same and i am getting different answers from my batch mates, to my above doubts. Please provide me with the correct technique that will help me to learn swimming..

so im in 8th grade, about to be in 9th, and the last time i was on a swim team was when i was like 8, and teh only way that helped was i knew the strokes, not like technique or skill or speed(i wouldnt have rembered anyway) but i joined the swim team for my school, and our season is short, about a month and a 1/2. So i was new, and my 25yrd fly time was like 18s or somthing, is that good for just starting? im on a swimming leage now i think im getting better

I do believe that swimmers who swim for at least thrice a week can slow down their aging process thus swimming is the fountain of youth aside from healthy diet and a positive point of view.
