Adult 15 compressions 2 breaths, 4 cycles of that then check for breathing and circulation
Child and Infant 5 compressions 1 breath, 10 cycles then check for breathing and circulation

You should go take a CPR course at a local red cross.

Isn't that required before taking the life guard exam where you are located?
In every state I have lived in there was a state licensing course that had to be taken before the exam. Check into that, because it is alot more involved that just doing chest compressions.

Good Luck!

It is recommended that you take part in a recognised CPR course before you put yourself in a postion of having to use this skill.
As a CPR instructor I have to mention that the protocol for giving CPR to adults and children has recently been modified but you can check with ILCOR ( International liaison committee on Resuscitation) for the recommendations particular to your part of the world.

you should take a cpr course.
it is very dangerous to give to cpr without the training.

while you are at it, you should also take a first aid course.
